Hold Love Dear
Hold Love Dear
A scene from the best movie ever made flickers
Lit with a foggy lamp
Or maybe it's the last page of a book
You put down
Drifted off
Dreamed on,
The page before things became…
Complicated.
How can you hold joy?
-Not to contain it-
What vessel would suffice?
No, no
But there are such moments
Rare as sand
And so also hard to hold
That we know:
That flying embrace
A leap of innocent faith
Blind and boisterous
Super heroes in footsie flannel pajamas
Maybe 4, maybe 5
The birthdays race by
Is that a new tooth I see?
But if such a moment could be captured
Wouldn’t we hold it dear
The ultimate cuddle
Cork it tight
And place it on the highest alter
And revisit it time and again
Just to check
Just to recharge
Just to feel the glow,
Circling back to hold love dear?

Just Now
I can only hold onto this moment for just so long.
It is hot, hot!
And sometimes I am blessed it seems,
Or cursed perhaps as well
With how quickly “now”
Is always becoming “then.”
But it is not then and gone, no, there is a wane:
And it is a gift when the hot now is love
‘cause hot will keep me warm then,
Long into the cold shadowy night,
And something I can circle back to,
As it cools
The touchstone after the fire has faded.
But it is not always then and gone, no,
Which is a clear curse when hot is hate,
‘cause hot hate will haunt me,
And taunt me toxic now
And burn me as it cools, then.
It is something that circles back as it simmers
A stain that is never scrubbed clean
A regret that begets regret.
So what to do, what to do?
Since there is no sure way to quench the hateful heat
But only to let it cool in my own entropy
Nor to feed an endless fire of love,
As much as it is my desire…
So I will greet such heats with a small wry smile:
Hello! And there you are!
I will greet them in this moment
This only one
Like the heat of the sun
So constant and so god-like…
(As only in my life does the sun’s heat seem to come now,
And go then.)
This is know, this I know…
And this moment is hot!
It is hot, hot!
And sometimes I am blessed it seems,
Or cursed perhaps as well
With how quickly “now”
Is always becoming “then.”
But it is not then and gone, no, there is a wane:

Hate and Love
You throw your shit
And some of it comes my way
Shame shame.
And bits of it stick
On heart and hands
Of the simple and the good
It is tarry-vile and it burns
Deep down near the core
(Is that your aim?)
Near where we dearly hold
Hope hope
And it is so very hard
To wash it and be free.
Why why?
I do not understand
Why you are so cruel
With your tools of power
Running hot
Stirring and brewing hate.
And gut deep I am sorry
For these times of so much sorrow
As it is painful madness
This I know
This I see.
But I do not join you
No no
Will not can not
And so
I stand against your loathsome course
(There is even a tear for you)
I am I am
Not weak with fear
But strong with love
As there are better futures
And so a better day
And as for me
I choose I choose
I choose to go that way.
And some of it comes my way
Shame shame.
And bits of it stick
On heart and hands
Of the simple and the good

Black Sand Beach
I saw you
From the black sand beach
Dancing to the sounds
Of the great Pacific orchestra.
You were naked,
So close to an ancestral form
Naked, standing upon a ragged rock
Dancing in a mermaid’s dream
Gifted with two swaying legs
Perched above the roiling surf
Swaying with the great gear rhythms
Bonding body
Land to sea
Linking the beauty of eternity.
I searched my heart
Now opened wide
But could not find a way
Sweet dream
From the black sand beach
Dancing to the sounds
Of the great Pacific orchestra.
You were naked,
So close to an ancestral form
Naked, standing upon a ragged rock
Dancing in a mermaid’s dream
Gifted with two swaying legs
Perched above the roiling surf
Swaying with the great gear rhythms
Bonding body
Land to sea
Linking the beauty of eternity.
I searched my heart
Now opened wide
But could not find a way
Sweet dream
To love you any more.

Discretion
Love today
Regret tomorrow.
Discretion is so devious
Fear fed
It steals
For survival’s sake
From what is
On behalf of what might be.
Regret tomorrow.
Discretion is so devious
Fear fed
It steals
For survival’s sake
From what is
On behalf of what might be.

Love Poem One
Why is it that most seek peace and tranquility
And yet we are sometimes submerged in A cauldron of hate and hurt?
There are so many of us
We all have needs
Some great some less...
And if we are blessed
Why is it not our daily custom
To pay kindness forward
To count our blessing
By sharing what we have
Mind and substance
Heart and care?
Do not worry
You do not need to seek them out
You will find them
As they come to you and me
In our daily ways
For they are
You and me.

Echelons
I do not know if I will ever be a mature lover.
Perhaps it is because I do not see, I fail in understanding
Where the draw towards breast and buttock connects/separates? from
The selfless friend, the eternal soul mate.
How does this play?
I sense but do not see,
I understand but do not know.
I am immature born and raised
Directed and driven to the morality
Of care and kindness, love for sure.
But these seem of a lower echelon, the underclass of partner love.
Perhaps a breath and quiet mind will make it clear
And perhaps there is an answer found,
Not by looking up/out so much
As in the looking down/in.
